It seems there is a growing number of unhappy Blizzcon/WWI/Dell Beta Club members who were promised beta keys for the WotLK beta in the first wave, and have still not received them. From that information we have been told, a wave of invites went out on the 22nd of July, which included the majority of all the people that had registered their Blizzcon keys (but not all of them).
Blizzard then informed everyone that they needed to make sure to get their keys registered by August 1st if they wanted to get in on the next wave of invites. Apparently, the next wave of invites went out on the 5th of August, and Blizzard told everyone that it included the Blizzcon/WWI/Dell Beta Club people that had registered. This was untrue, it seems. That group only included opt-Ins, and none of the pre-registered people. A second wave of invites went out on the 9th of August and the exact same thing happened. At this point, irate Blizzard forum posters started to become very "restless," let's say. It reached the point where Blizzard even admitted that both waves were supposed to get all the registered people, but managed to get nothing but Opt-ins instead! At this point, Blizzard went so far as to ask users who should have gotten beta keys to post their personal email addresses on their forums (and then edit out the email address, so that blues could see it, but no one else could, blues are the Blizzard staff level). Another backfire, and this has led to people getting scam email when certain dubious posters refresh it fast enough and see the email address before the poster can edit it out. So, as you can see, it is a huge mess at this point. We were asked to bring this to the public's attention, so that hopefully, it will get resolved ASAP. (Thanks so much, David) |
